Best Vegan Breakfast & Brunch Spots in Vienna (From a Local)

While there aren’t many fully vegan breakfast cafés in Vienna, there are plenty of places with delicious vegan options, from smoothie bowls and French toast to full English breakfast and bagels.

As someone who lives in Vienna and loves going out for brunch, I’ve made it a bit of a personal mission to try a new place almost every time I meet friends.

Whether it’s a cosy café tucked away in the 7th district or a grab-and-go açai bowl in the 1st, this list includes my absolute favourite vegan breakfasts in Vienna.

It’s by no means complete, there are way too many good places to name them all, but it’s a great starting point if you’re visiting the city and want to brunch like a local.

Fully Vegan Breakfast Spots in Vienna

If you’re like me and love knowing everything on the menu is safe to order, these fully vegan cafés are the best places to start your day.

1. Bistro Deppat

This all-vegan café is one of my favourites for a proper sit-down vegan breakfast. Their menu isn’t huge, but almost everything I’ve tried has been really good. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to come back to try the next thing on the menu.

They offer a variety of bagels (which I highly recommend), two different vegan scrambled eggs, a savoury filled croissant, ham and cheese toast, plus sweet and savoury waffles, pancakes, and a few desserts.

The team behind Bistro Deppat has also opened a second location called Bistro Narrisch. I haven’t been there myself yet, but the menu looks very similar. The main difference is the opening hours.

  • Price: €8 – €15 for food items, €3 – €7 for drinks
  • Frequency: Bistro Deppat open Thursdays to Sundays; Bistro Narrisch open Tuesday to Friday
  • Reservation: recommended, but depending on day not necessary
  • Best for: Casual, no-fuss brunch
  • Not ideal for: Big brunch with lots of different options

2. Superfood Deli

A smiling woman wearing glasses and a blue plaid shirt sits at a marble table in a bright, health-focused café. In front of her are two smoothie bowls topped with fruit, granola, and nut butter, along with two vibrant drinks—a green juice and a creamy smoothie—served in jars with bamboo straws. The background features a plant-filled interior with a menu listing organic smoothie and porridge bowls.

If you’re into light and fruity breakfasts, Superfood Deli is a fully vegan chain that’s great for smoothie bowls, porridge, and quick but healthy starts to your day.

They have three locations in Vienna, and while some are mostly geared towards takeaway, the café on Maria-Theresien-Straße 5 is the best choice if you want to sit down and eat.

They offer both sweet and savoury bowls, so you can actually build a nice little brunch out of it. It’s quick, nutritious, and colourful.

  • Price: bowls for €6 – €15; €3 – €10 for drinks and smoothies
  • Frequency: daily (opening hours vary by location)
  • Reservation: no
  • Best for: healthy breakfast, quick bite, takeaway, smoothie bowls
  • Not ideal for: long brunch with friends, classic breakfast dishes, cosy café atmosphere

3. Moriz

Moriz is a vegan bakery that’s only open on weekends and one of the best spots in Vienna if you love pastries. Alongside a huge selection of sweet treats, they also offer a few savoury breakfast options and even some mains.

I had the Moriz Brunch, which included bread with two spreads, vegan tartare or grilled chicory, a pastry, and a piece of cake. I chose the vegan tartare, and it was honestly the highlight of the meal, I only wished there had been more of it.

Moriz is perfect if your ideal breakfast is coffee and a pastry. It’s also located near Schönbrunn Palace, making it an easy stop before or after sightseeing.

  • Price: €5 – €20
  • Frequency: Friday to Sunday
  • Reservation: we were fine without a reservation but it might be useful
  • Best for: pastries and fancy cake
  • Not ideal for: if you’re looking for large brunches, lots of savoury options

4. Pepper & Ginny (Every Saturday)

Pepper & Ginny offers a weekly vegan brunch on Saturdays, and it feels super fancy, I loved it!

The place itself is tiny, so you’ll definitely need to book in advance.

You start with a mimosa (I had a non-alcoholic one with olives), followed by several small courses: carrot lox with vegan caviar, tofu scramble with avocado and vegan pastrami, a brownie with whipped cream and a hot drink.

  • Price: €34 (mimosa, one hot drink & 4 different courses)
  • Frequency: every Saturday
  • Reservation: required (very small space)
  • Best for: special occasion, slow brunch, something a bit fancy
  • Not ideal for: quick breakfast, large groups, very budget-friendly brunch

5. Vegan Kiss (only Saturdays)

Three tier breakfast stand set on an outdoor café table with pastries, bagels topped with cream cheese and herbs, yogurt, salad, and small dishes of spreads. A glass of orange juice and a latte sit beside the meal, with a sunny courtyard visible in the background.

Vegan Kiss offers a vegan brunch every Saturday with two options: Brunch Classic and Brunch Deluxe. I went for the Brunch Deluxe, which included a bagel, salad, yoghurt with granola, a croissant, bread rolls, spreads, orange juice, and a hot drink.

The bagel was my favourite part, and I enjoyed almost everything except the spreads, which were mostly butter-based. There was also so much bread that I ended up taking some of the rolls home.

The café has plenty of indoor seating and a lovely outdoor area. The only downside is the location in Seestadt. It’s a great option if you’re nearby, but I wouldn’t travel across Vienna just for this brunch.

  • Price: €13.50 for the classic brunch and €18.50 for the deluxe brunch
  • Frequency: every Saturday
  • Reservation: no
  • Best for: slow brunch, something unique with quiet surroundings
  • Not ideal for: visitors staying in the city centre

6. Tisch Restaurant (once a month)

Tisch offers a monthly all-you-can-eat vegan brunch, but it’s more of a full dining experience than a classic breakfast.

You choose one drink and one vegan egg dish (I can highly recommend the omelette), and then you can eat as much as you want from the buffet. The buffet is mostly savory lunch-style dishes and desserts, not typical breakfast food.

At the end, you also get a small vegan cheese plate. I liked it, but opinions in our group were mixed.

  • Price: €39 (all you can eat, one hot drink included)
  • Frequency: once a month (check their website and click on reservations)
  • Reservation: required
  • Best for: special brunch, groups, trying creative vegan food
  • Not ideal for: quick breakfast, budget options, classic breakfast dishes

7. Bali Brunch (Weekend Brunch at a Rooftop Bar)

Bali Brunch is a fully vegan brunch served at a non-vegan rooftop bar, and it’s definitely one of the most instagrammable brunch spots in Vienna.

It takes place every weekend, and you’ll need a reservation. You start with a ginger shot, and then you get a big shared selection of food depending on your group size, plus a bread basket you can refill at the bar.

The brunch includes things like spreads, wraps, noodle salad, fruit, cake, milk rice and chia pudding. There’s plenty of food, but I found some parts a bit awkward to share. For example, we got one glass of chia pudding for the whole table.

The setting is cool, but the chairs are not the most comfortable and service was quite slow. The food was good, but it didn’t stand out as much as at other places.

  • Price: €25 (drinks not included)
  • Frequency: every Saturday & Sunday
  • Reservation: required
  • Best for: views, photos, summer brunch
  • Not ideal for: smooth sharing, standout food, quick service

Vegetarian Cafés with Vegan Brunch Options

8. Bio Café Blütezeit

Café Blütezeit is a small, cosy vegetarian café that feels a bit like a hidden gem. It’s tucked away and has a very hip, local vibe.

They offer a few solid vegan breakfast options like smoothie bowls, porridge, and sourdough bread with toppings. I had the avocado toast and it was delicious.

One downside: my chai latte was honestly terrible (weirdly slimy and undrinkable). My friend’s coffee was fine though, so I’d just skip the chai.

  • Price: €9 – €14
  • Frequency: open every day from 8:30 am to 3 pm
  • Reservation: recommended (very small café)
  • Vegan options: smoothie bowls, porridge, sourdough toasts
  • Best for: cosy local vibe, simple breakfast
  • Not ideal for: big brunch, good chai (mine was horrible)

9. Revive Health Bar

Revive Health Bar is a mostly vegan café known for its smoothie bowls and juices. Technically it’s vegetarian, but bee pollen is the only non-vegan ingredient.

The bowls and smoothies are super fresh and perfect if you want something light. I had an açai bowl with peanut butter, which I really liked and my friend had a pretty and delicious smoothie.

That said, when I visited in winter, it was surprisingly cold inside. Also, the matcha tasted mostly like milk, so I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’re looking for great matcha in Vienna, there are definitely better spots.

  • Price: €6 – €12
  • Frequency: Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm
  • Reservation: not needed
  • Vegan options: everything (except bee pollen in some smoothies and bowls)
  • Best for: quick, healthy breakfast
  • Not ideal for: cosy long brunch, matcha

Vegan-Friendly Brunch Spots Worth Visiting

10. Zina’s Eatery

Zina’s Eatery is a tiny, super popular café that’s earned a lot of love online, and for good reason. It’s not fully vegan, but they do have some excellent plant-based options, especially if you’re in the mood for something sweet.

The space itself is really small, and just a heads up: they don’t have a toilet, which is something to keep in mind if you’re planning a longer brunch.

  • Price: €10 – €15
  • Frequency: Wednesday to Sunday 9am to 4pm
  • Reservation: recommended
  • Vegan options: pancakes, french toast, porridge, vegan sandwich, scrambled tofu, omelette
  • Best for: amazing vegan breakfast options; brunch box to go (preordered)
  • Not ideal for: long brunch, big space

11. Café “das Goldstück”

Wooden breakfast tray viewed from above with a croissant, seeded bread roll, berry yogurt topped with granola, assorted spreads, pickled vegetables, and a savory vegetable spread garnished with herbs. A green matcha latte, glass of water, and cutlery complete the breakfast setting.

Café “das Goldstück” offers several vegan breakfast options, but I went for the large vegan breakfast, which is great if you like trying a bit of everything.

It came with a croissant and jam, a bread roll with spreads, carrot lox, fresh cress, and a small yoghurt with fruit. I loved the fresh cress, which was served with tiny scissors, such a cute touch.

At first, the breakfast seemed a bit pricey, but for just €1 extra you can add a hot drink. I got a matcha latte, and €19 for breakfast and a drink felt like good value.

The café is very spacious, and it’s close to the Hundertwasser Museum, making it a great breakfast stop before sightseeing.

  • Price: big vegan breakfast for €19 (incl a drink)
  • Frequency: open Monday to Friday
  • Reservation: usually not needed
  • Vegan options: bagel, sandwich, cake, croissant, porridge, granola
  • Best for: great vegan options place with a chill atmosphere

12. Ramasuri

Open faced toast topped with fresh leafy greens seeds and beetroot served on a plate with a creamy latte and a bowl of yogurt with fruit and granola in the background.

Ramasuri is a laid-back brunch spot in the 2nd district with surprisingly creative vegan options. It’s a great place for a slow brunch with friends.

I had the bread with spread and greens, and it was packed with flavour (more like a salad on bread). My friend ordered the sweet potato with yoghurt, peanut butter, banana, and berries, which sounded odd but actually worked really well.

  • Price: €9 – €14
  • Frequency: every day from 8am during the week and from 9am on weekends
  • Reservation: recommended on weekends
  • Vegan options: avocado bread, porridge, sweet potato dish
  • Best for: relaxed brunch, trying something different
  • Not ideal for: lots of vegan options (they only have 3 options)

13. Café Frida

Located near Yppenplatz, Café Frida is located in a up and coming part of Vienna. I went here on a friend’s recommendation and was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I tried their vegan French toast with yoghurt and fruit, which I really liked. I also had their vegan scrambled eggs made from chickpea flour, and while they were good, I realised I personally prefer tofu scramble.

  • Price: €13 – €15
  • Frequency: every day from 9am to 10pm
  • Reservation: we were fine without reservation during the week
  • Vegan options: vegan scrambled eggs, baked beans, sandwich, French toast, porridge, soy joghurt
  • Best for: classic brunch dishes with vegan options
  • Not ideal for: tofu-style scrambled eggs

15. Vollpension

Vollpension is a cosy café with a unique concept, run as a social business employing senior citizens. The interior feels like visiting your grandparents.

They do have vegan options, but they’re quite simple. When I visited, there was no vegan cake, which was a bit disappointing.

The breakfast itself (bread with butter, chives, radish, and porridge) felt very nostalgic, but overall, it wasn’t anything special.

  • Price: €7 – €30
  • Frequency: every day 8am to 8pm
  • Reservation: recommended on weekends
  • Vegan options: vegan version of a traditional Austrian breakfast
  • Best for: cosy atmosphere, unique concept
  • Not ideal for: standout vegan food

16. Klyo

A plate of vibrant scrambled tofu with fresh sprouts, roasted vegetables, and slices of rustic bread, accompanied by a latte. Diners are visible in the café's relaxed and bustling atmosphere, enhancing the friendly ambiance.

I haven’t visited the Vienna location myself yet, but Klyo is one of my favourite breakfast spots in Graz.

You can choose from smoothie bowls, bread with hummus and vegetables, tofu scramble, vegan protein pancakes with banana, and a vegan cake. They also offer vegan options on their lunch menu.

What makes the Vienna location special is its setting right by the Donaukanal. The outdoor terrace overlooks the water, making it a lovely spot for breakfast on a sunny day.

  • Price: €10 – €14
  • Frequency: every day 9 am to 2:30 pm
  • Reservation: recommended on weekends
  • Vegan options: smoothie bowls, tofu scramble, vegan protein pancakes, hummus bread, vegan cake
  • Best for: breakfast by the water, sunny days, scenic views
  • Not ideal for: standout vegan food

Vegan Breakfast Map of Vienna

To make planning your breakfast a little easier, I’ve saved all of the cafés featured in this guide on a map.

Looking for the Best Matcha in Vienna?

Many of the breakfast spots on this list serve matcha, and I usually order one if it’s on the menu. But if you’re a fellow matcha lover, I’ve found that most cafés focus on breakfast first and matcha second.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but if you’re looking for a perfectly whisked ceremonial-grade matcha, a creative seasonal matcha drink, or simply the best matcha in Vienna, you’ll have a much better experience at a dedicated matcha café.

If that’s what you’re after, check out my guide to the best matcha cafés in Vienna, where I share my favourite spots for everything from traditional matcha to strawberry matcha and other creative drinks.
