19 Best All-Vegan Restaurants in Vienna from a Local

Austria might not be known for its vegan food, and in the countryside, it can still be challenging at times, but not in Vienna. Vienna is a paradise for vegan food lovers, and that’s one of the reasons why I decided to move here.

Whether you’re craving hearty Austrian dishes, fresh Asian flavors, fast food, or you want a fine dining experience, the city has something vegan for every taste.

This guide covers only 100% vegan restaurants in Vienna, so you can order anything from the menu without worrying if it’s vegan.

Vegan Restaurants with Austrian Cuisine

1. Velani

📍 Address: Schönbrunner Str. 235, 1120 Wien

Velani is the best vegan restaurant Vienna has to offer if you want to try some authentic Austrian cuisine.

The most popular dish among tourists is, of course, the vegan Schnitzel, a cultural must-try in Vienna. My personal favourite is the Zwiebelrostbraten, a flavorful seitan-based dish with crispy onions and a rich sauce.

Don’t skip their traditional Austrian soups either, like Frittatensuppe (a broth with cut-up pancakes). And for dessert, the Wiener Sachertorte, a classic chocolate cake with apricot jam, is a must-try.

2. Tisch Restaurant

📍 Address: Schlösselgasse 8, 1080 Wien

Tisch Restaurant is a great place to enjoy vegan Austrian cuisine with a creative twist as well as some international and unique dishes. Their menu changes regularly, focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients while keeping traditional flavors alive.

It’s a perfect mix of casual eating and fine dining. Choose from the regular menu or book ahead for the 6-course dinner. Once a month, it becomes one of Vienna’s best vegan brunch spots.

3. Cafe Harvest

A vibrant vegan Austrian meal served outdoors, featuring crispy plant-based schnitzel with a lemon wedge, creamy potato salad garnished with green onions, and a side of lingonberry sauce. In the background, a blue bowl holds two dumplings topped with gravy and herbs, with a glass of iced tea garnished with citrus and mint nearby.
Tuesdays is Schnitzel day at Cafe Harvest

📍 Address: Karmeliterplatz 1, 1020 Wien

Cafe Harvest only turned fully vegan in 2025 and they serve a mix of Austrian cuisine and international dishes. They also have special dishes they only serve on special days, like every Tuesday they have vegan Schnitzel.

While their daily lunch dishes are delicious and the cosy atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax, what really makes Cafe Harvest special is their all-you-can-eat brunch buffet on weekends. You’ll definitely need to book a table in advance.

Important: It’s a cash only place, they do not take card payment!

Vegan Asian Restaurants

4. Vevi

📍 Address: Stollgasse 5, 1070 Vienna (Two additional locations available)

Vevi is hands down one of the best vegan Vietnamese restaurants in Vienna. There are three locations, the most central one is in Stollgasse.

Try the starter plate for two for a mix of their best appetizers. For something smaller, go for the summer rolls. For mains, my go-to dishes are the Phở Đặc Biệt (a pho soup) and Phở Trộn, a warm noodle salad topped with crispy spring rolls.

Last time, I tried the Thanh Tịnh (crispy seitan with veggies and a delicious sauce with rice), and it was so good that it’s now on my list of favorites as well.

5. SHIYU

📍 Address: Ausstellungsstraße 21, 1020 Wien

SHIYU is near Wiener Prater, Vienna’s famous amusement park. That makes it a great spot to grab a delicious vegan meal after a fun day at the park. But for me it means, it’s too far out to go there more often, so I’ve only been there once.

The menu features a variety of vegan Asian dishes. One thing that stood out to me is their weekday lunch deal, which is an absolute bargain. If you’re in the area during lunch hours, it’s a great way to enjoy a fantastic meal at a lower price.

6. Uudam

📍 Address: Spitalgasse 13, 1090 Wien

Uudam is another fantastic all-vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Vienna. The interior is modern and stylish, but it’s quite small and there’s no toilet.

It’s only open for lunch during the week, but it’s worth it! Their menu includes a variety of pho, rice dishes, noodle bowls, and even sticky rice with mango. They also have the best vegan milk teas and matcha lattes!

7. Lin’s Veggie Dumplin’

📍 Address: Neubaugasse 70/Top 3-5, 1070 Wien

As the name suggests, Lin’s Veggie Dumpling specializes in vegan dumplings, but their menu also features delicious-looking bowls that I’ll have to try next time. When I visited, I just had to go for the dumplings and they were absolutely worth it!

I highly recommend the mixed dumpling box to try different flavors. The restaurant itself is quite small inside, but the dumplings are also perfect for takeaway. In summer, you can grab a box and enjoy them in one of Vienna’s nearby parks.

8. Vegetasia

A white plate filled with a variety of Asian-inspired vegan dishes, including rice, tofu with vegetables in a dark sauce, edamame, a fresh spring roll, a fried spring roll, roasted potatoes, and stir-fried mushrooms. A bowl of miso soup and two dipping sauces accompany the meal, with iced drinks in the background.

📍 Address: Ungargasse 57, 1030 Wien

Vegetasia is Vienna’s only all-vegan buffet, offering plant-based Asian cuisine. It’s a bit outside the city center, but it’s super close to Belvedere Palace, so it’s a great option for a meal after exploring one of Vienna’s most famous palaces.

You have two buffet options here:

  • The regular buffet, where you can choose from a variety of ready-to-eat dishes.
  • The hot pot buffet includes the regular buffet plus a personal hot pot at your table, with a larger selection of ingredients to cook yourself in the hot pot.

9. Vinavegana

📍 Address: Koppreitergasse 28, 1120 Wien

Vinavegana is a fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant in a residential area outside the city center. The food is good, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth going out of your way for, but if you happen to be in the area, it’s a solid option for a plant-based meal.

One thing to note is that they sometimes offer discounts if you book a table through their website, so it’s worth checking before you go.

10. Loving Hut

📍 Address: Neubaugürtel 38/5, 1070 Wien (Another location available in Vienna)

Loving Hut is part of an international vegan restaurant chain, with each location having a slightly different menu.

Vienna has two locations, with the Neubaugürtel branch being more central. They primarily serve Asian dishes, but you’ll also find burgers and even some Austrian options like Wiener Schnitzel.

The food is always good, and I especially love their Klopeiner See location in Kärnten. That said, there’s a bit of a culty vibe, as many locations have a TV running nonstop with messages about their “supreme leader.”

11. Tau

📍 Address: Erzherzog-Karl-Straße 38, 1220 Wien

Tau is a traditional Chinese restaurant but all vegan, you’ll find all the dishes you know from classic Chinese restaurants plus some sushi and maki.

The food is delicious, but the location is a bit far from Vienna city center. However, it’s close to the Danube island, making Tau a great spot for Asian comfort food after a summer day of relaxing and swimming in the Danube.

Vegan Fast Food Restaurants

12. Swing Kitchen

Vegan meal at Swing Kitchen, a popular vegan restaurant in Graz, featuring plant-based burgers with toppings, fries, and a dipping sauce, served alongside a branded cup on a tray.
You can refill the cup for free

📍 Address: Schwedenplatz 3-4 and Josefstädter Straße 73

Swing Kitchen used to be the most popular vegan fast-food chain in Vienna, with seven locations across the city. Unfortunately, all but two locations have closed down.

They have a handful of burger options and one seasonal changing one. My favorite is their signature Swing Burger. If you’re in the mood for dessert, definitely try their vegan Tiramisu, it’s one of my favorites!

13. Pizzis and Cream

A slice of vegan pizza in an open takeout box with the phrase "GET IN MY BELLY." and the hashtag "#pizzisandcream" printed inside the lid. The pizza has a thin, charred crust and is topped with tomato sauce, melted vegan cheese, slices of plant-based sausage, and scattered corn kernels.

📍 Address: Burggasse 25, 1070 Wien

Pizzis and Cream is a fully vegan pizzeria in Vienna, serving up authentic Neapolitan-style pizza. While you can order a whole pizza, it’s more popular as a grab-and-go spot for pizza by the slice, perfect for a quick bite.

If you like extra flavor, they offer the option to drizzle your slice with a garlicky olive oil on top. They also serve vegan ice cream, making it a great stop if you’re in the mood for a quick and satisfying snack.

14. Veggiezz

Colorful vegan spread on a rustic wooden table featuring a black skillet loaded with seasoned tofu, shredded cucumber, avocado slices, cherry tomatoes, greens, and a dollop of guacamole. Surrounding dishes include a sesame-seed burger with lettuce and cheese, thick-cut fries with ketchup, a veggie wrap cut in half, and a lemon-thyme soda in a mason jar with a red striped straw.

📍 Address: Opernring 6, 1010 Wien

Veggiezz is a fully vegan casual restaurant with a variety of options near the Vienna Opera House.

Their menu includes bowls, burgers, wraps, vegan steak, sandwiches, soups, salads, and even summer rolls.

15. Gaia Kitchen

A colorful vegan plate with creamy hummus, spiced soy-based meat drizzled in tahini sauce, fresh greens topped with pickled onions and pomegranate seeds, and shredded carrots, served alongside a bright yellow-orange juice. In the background, a casual eatery with a counter and a hand-painted peacock mural adds charm to the warm atmosphere.

📍 Address: Praterstraße 68 1, 1020 Wien

Gaia Kitchen is a restaurant specializing in Lebanese cuisine, offering a delicious selection of kebab, falafel, cabbage rolls, and moussaka. If you’re in the mood for hearty, flavorful Middle Eastern food, this is a great spot to check out.

I also love their vegan mango lassi and it’s the only place I’ve ever seen vegan Ayran, unfortunately it was sold out when I was there.

Vegan Fine Dining

16. Jola

📍 Address: Salzgries 15, 1010 Wien

Jola is the best vegan fine dining restaurant Vienna has to offer. They have a carefully curated menu that changes with the seasons. It’s a small restaurant where each dish is beautifully plated and made with high-quality ingredients.

Unlike most places, Jola doesn’t have a fixed menu, instead, you get a surprise multi-course dining experience that showcases creative plant-based cuisine. If you’re looking for a special night out, Jola is a fantastic choice.

17. Pepper & Ginny

A wooden serving board with plant-based lox-style toast, topped with thinly sliced orange-colored marinated carrots, black vegan caviar, mustard seeds, caper berries, and fresh dill. A lemon wedge and a blue-handled knife rest in the background.

📍 Address: Ballgasse 5, 1010 Wien

Pepper & Ginny isn’t exactly a fine dining restaurant, but I wasn’t sure where else to put it. It’s a super small place, yet it feels special, especially when you’re sitting there eating their delicious bread with carrot lox, which made me feel very fancy.

They also serve vegan camembert, which is a rare find, and they have a small store where you can buy vegan snacks to take home. If you’re looking for a cozy, unique spot with high-quality plant-based food, Pepper & Ginny is worth a visit.

Healthy Vegan Food

19. das suess’kind

📍 Address: Sparefrohgasse 1, 1030 Wien

If you’re in the mood for some healthy vegan food in Vienna das suess’kind is the perfect place for you. They offer a daily changing dish and dal, all healthy, organic, and low waste.

It’s a really cute, small spot, they also have some delicious cakes. But they don’t have a toilet, so keep that in mind. They have very limited opening times, but they are great for a midweek lunch.

Final Thoughts: Vienna Vegan Food

Vienna is a paradise for vegans, offering everything from Austrian comfort food to Asian cuisine and fast food. Whether you want a casual bite or an elegant meal, there’s no shortage of vegan restaurants to try.

And no visit to Vienna is complete without experiencing its famous coffeehouse culture, but don’t worry, you don’t have to settle for black coffee! The city has plenty of vegan cafés serving plant-based pastries, matcha lattes, and specialty drinks.
