Is the Vienna Pass Worth It? Use this Calculator to Check
If you’re planning a trip to Vienna, you’ve probably come across the Vienna Pass and wondered whether it’s actually worth buying.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a simple yes or no answer. Whether the Vienna Pass saves you money depends on how many attractions you want to visit, how long you’re staying in Vienna, and how fast you like to travel.
For some visitors, the Vienna Pass can offer excellent value. For others, buying individual tickets or choosing the Vienna Flexi Pass is the better option.
That’s why I’ve created the calculator below. Simply select the attractions you’d like to visit and it will show you whether the Vienna Pass pays off for your itinerary.
Vienna Pass Calculator
To keep the calculator easy to use, I’ve only included the most popular attractions. However, the Vienna Pass includes much more than that. In total, you’ll get access to over 90 attractions, museums, and sightseeing experiences across Vienna.
Choose your Vienna Pass duration and tick the attractions you want to visit to see if the pass pays off.

When the Vienna Pass Is Worth It
In general, the Vienna Pass offers the best value if you’re planning to visit several major attractions in a short period of time.
For example, if your itinerary includes places like Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace, the Albertina, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, and the Hop On Hop Off bus, the savings can add up surprisingly quickly.
The pass is particularly popular with first time visitors who want to see as much of Vienna as possible in just a few days.

When the Vienna Pass Is Not Worth It
If you prefer a slower pace and only plan to visit one or two paid attractions per day, you’ll often spend less by buying individual tickets instead.
The same applies if you’re more interested in wandering through Vienna’s historic streets, relaxing in cafés, visiting parks, or exploring some of the city’s many free attractions.
In my experience, many visitors overestimate how much sightseeing they’ll actually do. While it might sound realistic to visit multiple museums and palaces in one day, you’ll probably find yourself wanting to slow down and enjoy the city.

Important Downsides of the Vienna Pass
Before buying the Vienna Pass, there are a few things worth knowing.
You’ll also need to exchange your online voucher for a physical pass at the Vienna Sightseeing & Vienna PASS Service Center at Opernring 3-5.
Public transport is not included, so you’ll need to buy separate tickets if you plan to use Vienna’s buses, trams, or metro.
Don’t assume the Vienna Pass will always help you skip the queues. At some popular attractions visitors with pre-booked time slots are prioritised. If you’re planning to visit Schönbrunn for example, I recommend arriving right when it opens.
And finally, some attractions require advance reservations despite being included in the pass. For example, you’ll need to book ahead for the guided tour of the Vienna State Opera.

Vienna Pass vs Vienna Flexi Pass
The main difference is that the Vienna Pass gives you unlimited access to included attractions for a set number of days, while the Flexi Pass lets you choose a specific number of attractions.
This makes the Flexi Pass a good choice if you only want to visit a handful of major sights spread out over a longer period of time.
In my opinion, the regular Vienna Pass works best for visitors who want to fit as much sightseeing as possible into a short trip. If you have more time and you’re planning a more relaxed itinerary, the Flexi Pass often offers better value.
My Verdict: Is the Vienna Pass Worth It?
The Vienna Pass can save you a lot of money, but only if you plan to visit enough attractions.
That’s why I recommend using the calculator above. Whether the pass is worth it depends entirely on your itinerary and travel style.
If the calculator shows significant savings, you can buy the Vienna Pass here. Just remember that you’ll need to exchange your online voucher for a physical pass before you can start using it.
👉 Most importantly, only buy the pass if it actually saves you money.
